Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded a high-level summit with President Donald Trump on Thursday at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, marking his first visit to the United States in over a decade. The talks took place against the backdrop of heightened global tensions and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Putin’s arrival was managed under strict security coordination between US and Russian officials, with his Ilyushin Il-96-300PU presidential aircraft entering American airspace under military escort before landing without incident.
During the summit, the two leaders discussed a wide range of issues including the conflict in Ukraine, global energy stability, and trade relations. While no formal agreements were reached, both sides described the dialogue as constructive and necessary.
White House officials highlighted the significance of hosting the meeting on US. soil, calling it a demonstration of diplomatic engagement. President Trump characterized the talks as “a step toward stability,” while Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that dialogue should not be viewed as endorsement.
