Over 2,400 Passengers Served at Velana International Airport’s New Terminal 1

Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport (VIA) has commenced operations with a successful initial phase, serving a total of 2,410 passengers across 14 flights operated by Maldivian, the national carrier.

The new terminal has efficiently handled both arrivals and departures, reflecting its operational readiness and the effectiveness of the airport’s phased expansion plan.

Since opening, 1,454 arriving passengers and 956 departing passengers have been processed through the facility. The numbers reflect a promising start as Terminal 1 begins to play a key role in supporting travel and improving the overall passenger experience.

Terminal 1 forms part of a broader infrastructure development initiative at VIA aimed at increasing capacity, enhancing service quality, and supporting the Maldives’ growing aviation needs.
