Maldivian Operates First Commercial Flight On The New ATR

Following 3 months of manufacturer delay national flag carrier Maldivian finally received two of the airline's brand new ATR 72-600s earlier in January.

Today, Maldivian officially commenced flight services on the new ATR with the first flight to Gan.

Flight Q2104 was operated on the ATR 72-600 registration 8Q-IAZ. This is the first flight operated on IAZ since delivery to Maldives.

The third and final ATR for Maldivian is set to arrive in late January. Maldivian is acquiring ATRs in order to replace the ageing Dash8s.

The total acquisition cost of the three aircraft is reportedly USD 60 million (MVR 925 million) which is paid through a loan.
