Villa Air has announced commencement of flights Bangalore, India starting 10th September 2021.
Villa Air has appointed Nijhawan Group, an Indian travel agency with 40 years of experience as the airline's general sales agent (GSA) in India.
In September 2020, Villa Air obtained the permit for international flights and operated the very first international flight to Sri Lanka, and expressed plans to launch international scheduled flights services to India and Sri Lanka.
“The Maldives has risen in popularity with Indian travelers, and with a GSA in the country, Flyme is gearing up to provide visitors with an opportunity to fly directly to the islands of the Maldives. With this partnership, we aim to position Flyme as a leading air transport provider for the Maldives and support the economy of the country through developing a better aviation route.” Said Abdulla Nashid, Managing Director, Villa Air Flyme
Along with plans for international operations; the airline had also expressed plans to acquire two Airbus A319.
At present, Villa Air operates primary domestic routes with ATR 42/72 turboprop aircraft.
Villa Air’s expansion to international operations would be a major achievement and would contribute heavily to the growth of the aviation industry in the Maldives.
