Velana International Airport has been accredited as safe travel by Airports Council International

Velana International Airport has been accredited as a safe to travel airport by Airports Council International ( ACI) after assessing precautionary health measures of the airport making Velana Airport the second airport from the Asia Pacific region to accredited under “Airport Health Accreditation” program

Airports Council International (ACI), established in 1991 is a global trade representative of the world's airport authorities. ACI represents airports' interests with governments and international organizations, develops standards, policies, and recommended practices for airports, and it provides information and training opportunities to raise the standards around the world.

The accreditation by ACI is in accordance with ICAO Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations and in alignment with the joint EASA and ECDC Aviation Health Safety Protocol. It is also aligned with ACI Europe’s ‘Guidelines for a Healthy Passenger Experience at Airports’.

ACI works closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and its other global partners as the industry recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop.
