At Last, Maldives Will Be Removed From UK’s Red List On 22nd September

With the latest update in the UK’s travel list, 8 countries have been removed from the red list including Maldives.

With the change, those arriving from countries listed on the amber will no longer be required to quarantine in the hotel.

UK will scrap the current traffic light system which includes green, amber, and red list countries based on levels of COVID19 risk to a simpler list consisting of just green list countries and the red list countries.

"Today's changes mean a simpler, more straightforward system. One with less testing and lower costs, allowing more people to travel, see loved ones, or conduct business around the world while providing a boost for the travel industry," Grant Shapps, UK Transport Secretary.

With the change by October, fully vaccinated passengers from non-red list countries will be able to replace the current compulsory day-two PCR test requirement with cheaper lateral flow tests.

Holiday bookings have since soared three times normal since with Maldives and Turkey being the top two sought destinations.
