AAA’s Mr.Suranjan De Silva’s Head of Training approval revoked by MCAA

Maldives Civil Aviation Authority has revoked the approval issued to Mr.Suranjan De Silva to act as the Head of training at the Asian Academy of Aeronautics.

MCAA highlighted on a press released issued yesterday that Mr.Suranjan De Silva's Head of Training approval will be officially revoked on 23rd May 2021. Mr.Suranjan De Silva is also the Director and CEO of the flying school.

The press release further states that a last warning has been issued to the flying school's accountable manager, Mr.Akbar Jeevanjee. His approval shall too be revoked if the matters at AAA continue or further worsens.

The students at the flying school continue to raise their concerns regarding the completion of their courses as the AAA has failed to improve its conditions even after the governments assistance.

Just this week engineers employed at AAA resigned following a dispute over salary while the future state of the flight instructors remain unclear.

The actions from MCAA comes after the President Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ordered to take necessary action against AAA earlier in May. The president also has ordered an independent audit of MCAA.
