Tibet Airlines Airbus A319 Caught Fire After Runway Excursion During Aborted Takeoff


A Tibet Airlines Airbus A319 suffered a runway excursion and caught fire after aborting takeoff yesterday.

The Airbus A319 registration B-6425 was performing flight TV-9833 from Chongqing to Nyingchi, China with 113 passengers and 9 crew.


While accelerating for takeoff at Chongqing's runway 03, the crew aborted takeoff which resulted in the aircraft going left off the runway, across the parallel taxiway, another taxiway connecting the runway and the two parallel taxiways before coming to a stop off on soft ground.

A fire broke out at the left forward side of the aircraft and all passengers were evacuated via slides.


Of the 113 passengers and 9 crew, 36 suffered minor injuries and the aircraft suffered substantial damages.
