A video went viral this week showing passengers of an IndiGo flight sitting on the tarmac at the airport having meals.
The flight was operated from Goa to New Delhi but was required to divert to Mumbai due to deteriorating weather in Delhi. With the delays that followed passengers were allowed to exit the airplane and sit on the tarmac where they were provided meals as well.
Following this incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation fined IndiGo USD 144,000 for failure to adhere to safety rules and also fined the airport USD 36,000 for failure to report this incident.
