YouTuber Jailed Six Months For Staging Plane Crash For Views

In December 2021 YouTuber Trevor Jacob uploaded a video titled  “I Crashed My Airplane” where the YouTuber can be seen jumping off his airplane after the engine propeller stopped working.

Video footage from cameras mounted on the airplane showed it crash into the bush as Jacob parachuted to safety. The video quickly earned millions of views however Jacob was soon faced with accusations of the event being staged.

The NTSB was informed of the crash two days after who asked Jacob to locate the crash and preserve the wreckage for the agency’s inspection. Even though Jacob hiked to the crash site he initially told the investigator he was yet to locate the wreckage.

During the investigation, Jacob ultimately admitted that he deliberately crashed the airplane for the video and later pleaded guilty during court proceedings. Jacobs Pilot's license was revoked and was sentenced to six months in prison.
