Dubai-based carrier Emirates has made an extraordinary announcement regarding bonuses for its workforce. Following a record profit of 7.2 billion dirhams ($4.7 billion) during the fiscal year 2023-2024, the airline is rewarding its over 100,000 employees with a bonus equivalent to rive months of their respective salaries.
This substantial payout reflects the company’s impressive financial performance, which saw profits increase by 63% year-over-year.
Some workgroups could receive as much as $50,000. The bonus will be a one-time payout in May, recognizing the hard work and dedication of the airline’s global workforce, which grew by 10% last year, reaching a total of 112,406 staff members across 84 countries.
Emirates remains committed to growth. The airline is actively hiring pilots, flight attendants, and ground staff, including positions within its ground handling subsidiary, Dnata. Last year, Emirates granted employees a similar bonus worth 24 weeks of salary, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to rewarding its dedicated workforce.
Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, expressed pride in the collective achievements of the employees, stating,
“For powering our collective ambitions and achieving them, you deserve every dirham of the 20-week profit share”.
