The newly constructed Muli Airport, located in Meemu Atoll, is making final preparations as it gets ready to conduct test flight. This marks an important step toward the airport becoming fully operational and starting its services for both locals and tourists.

The airport is being constructed on a 40-hectare area of reclaimed land, a process initiated in 2018. It will include a 1,200 meter long, 30 meter wide runway, along with a taxiway and an apron. The project was contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and work officially began in October 2021.
Valued at over USD 14 million, the airport is designed to serve domestic flights. Its facilities aim to provide functional services to both locals and tourists traveling to and from Meemu Atoll. The development marks a significant regional improvement, addressing a long-standing gap in Meemu Atoll’s transportation network.
The completion of the project is expected to provide essential connectivity, bringing practical benefits to the region’s residents and creating opportunities for improved mobility.
