Emirates Unveils Electrically Powered Premium Economy Seat on New Airbus A350 Fleet

Emirates has introduced a new benchmark in cabin design with the launch of the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full‑height adjustable privacy screen, debuting on its newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft. The development marks a significant step in the evolution of the airline’s mid‑tier cabin product, positioning the A350 as a key platform for Emirates’ next phase of passenger‑experience upgrades.

The redesigned seat, developed in partnership with Safran Seats, incorporates a suite of electrically driven adjustments previously reserved for higher cabin classes. Passengers can raise or lower a full‑height privacy divider at the touch of a button, creating a more secluded personal space for working, dining or resting. The seat also offers preset lounge and meal positions through an integrated Passenger Control Unit, allowing for smoother and more precise adjustments.

The cabin is arranged in a 2‑3‑2 configuration with 28 seats, each providing a 20‑inch width and up to 39 inches of pitch. The cradle‑style recline has been engineered to avoid encroaching on the passenger behind, maintaining cabin comfort and spatial integrity.

Emirates has incorporated several new amenities into the A350 Premium Economy cabin. The seat features the U‑Dream leather headrest, offering improved neck and side support through multi‑way adjustable wings. Passengers also benefit from wireless charging, USB‑C power, and a redesigned tray table with an integrated phone holder for dual‑screen use.

Entertainment is delivered through a 13.3‑inch 4K HDR touchscreen, running the latest version of Emirates’ ice system. The cabin design includes updated trim and finish elements, reflecting the airline’s broader interior refresh programme.

The new seat is expected to strengthen Emirates’ competitive position in markets where Premium Economy demand continues to rise, offering a product that bridges the gap between traditional Economy and Business Class with features not previously available at this level.
