Singapore Airlines’ low‑cost subsidiary Scoot has strengthened its future fleet plans with a new commitment for 11 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, as the carrier prepares for sustained growth across the Asia‑Pacific region. The agreement includes a firm order for five aircraft and the exercise of options for six more, originally secured under a 2014 purchase arrangement with Airbus.

The order, announced on 7 May 2026, will increase Scoot’s total A320neo family backlog to 20 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin progressively from 2028. AeroTime
All newly ordered aircraft will be equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW1100G‑JM geared turbofan (GTF) engines, offering improved fuel burn and lower emissions compared to previous‑generation narrowbodies.
Scoot plans to configure the A320neo with 186 seats and the A321neo with 236 seats, maintaining its single‑class layout across the narrowbody fleet.
Scoot says the additional aircraft will provide the flexibility needed to expand its network within a five‑to six‑hour radius of Singapore, enabling the airline to open new routes and strengthen connectivity within the wider Singapore Airlines Group.
CEO Leslie Thng noted that demand across Asia‑Pacific continues to rise, and the A320neo family’s range and efficiency will help Scoot deepen its presence in both established and emerging markets.
The airline has been on a rapid growth trajectory, adding 25 new destinations to the SIA Group network since FY2022/23. By June 2026, Scoot is expected to serve 85 destinations, with 37 routes operated exclusively by the low‑cost carrier.
Scoot currently operates 63 aircraft, including Boeing 787s, Airbus A320 family jets, and Embraer E190‑E2 regional aircraft. The carrier plans to retire its remaining A320ceo aircraft by 2028 as part of its fleet renewal strategy.
