The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its longstanding policy of preventing its airspace, territory, and territorial waters from being used for any hostile military action against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The statement, issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on 26 January 2026, underscores the country’s continued emphasis on diplomacy, de‑escalation, and respect for state sovereignty.

Clear Position Against Participation in Hostile Acts

In its announcement, the Ministry affirmed that the UAE will not permit any military operations targeting Iran to be launched, supported, or facilitated from Emirati territory. This includes prohibiting the use of UAE airspace, ports, territorial waters, or logistical infrastructure for such purposes.

The statement reflects the UAE’s consistent approach to regional stability, particularly at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Gulf.

Emphasis on Dialogue and De‑Escalation

MoFA highlighted that the UAE views dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law as the most effective means of addressing regional challenges. The Ministry stressed that respect for sovereignty and peaceful dispute resolution remain central pillars of the country’s foreign policy.

This position aligns with the UAE’s broader diplomatic strategy, which prioritizes constructive engagement and conflict‑prevention mechanisms across the Middle East.

Commitment to Regional Stability

The reaffirmation comes as part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability in the Gulf region. By publicly restating its policy, the UAE signals both to regional partners and the international community that it remains committed to non‑alignment in military confrontations and to fostering an environment conducive to peaceful negotiation.
