Starlux Airlines marked a major milestone today as it officially received Taiwan’s first Airbus A350‑1000, a next‑generation long‑haul flagship that signals the carrier’s accelerating global ambitions. The aircraft, registered B‑58551, touched down at Taoyuan International Airport at approximately 10 a.m., concluding a nonstop delivery flight from Toulouse personally piloted by the airline’s chairman and founder, K.W. Chang Taipei.

The arrival was greeted with a ceremonial water salute, underscoring the significance of the moment for both the airline and Taiwan’s aviation sector. Starlux becomes the first Taiwanese operator of the A350‑1000, the largest and longest‑range member of Airbus’s A350 family.

The A350‑1000 introduces a refreshed livery and a four‑class cabin layout designed for long‑distance comfort. With a range of up to 15,600 km, the aircraft will play a central role in Starlux’s expansion into North America and Europe, complementing its existing A350‑900 fleet.

Starlux confirmed that five additional A350‑1000s are scheduled for delivery in 2026, part of a broader order book totaling 18 aircraft of the type to be delivered through 2031.

Beyond passenger growth, Starlux is preparing a significant push into the cargo market. The airline has placed orders for 10 Airbus A350F freighters, positioning itself to compete in high‑yield long‑haul freight operations in the coming years.

The delivery flight, personally captained by Chairman Chang, echoes his long‑standing passion for aviation and mirrors the hands‑on leadership style that has shaped Starlux since its founding. The A350‑1000’s arrival not only strengthens the airline’s premium long‑haul capabilities but also reinforces Taiwan’s presence in the global aviation landscape.

As the aircraft begins initial regional operations to build crew experience, Starlux is expected to announce its first long‑haul destinations for the type in the coming months.
