Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has completed critical operational readiness trials at Velana International Airport’s New Passenger Terminal, focusing on the integration and functionality of Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB) and the Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System (A-VDGS).

As part of final pre-opening procedures, a full aircraft turnaround was carried out using Maldivian Airlines’ Airbus A330 and A320 aircraft to validate bridge compatibility, docking precision, and ground service coordination for both wide-body and narrow-body operations.

MACL stated that these trials represent a key milestone in ensuring the new terminal meets international operational standards, delivering enhanced passenger handling capacity and improved turnaround efficiency as part of the airport’s wider development program.
