Authorities in Honduras are investigating the crash of a British Aerospace BAe-125-700A jet, believed to have been operating illegally, after its wreckage was discovered in a swampy area near the Warunta River in the Gracias a Dios department.

The aircraft, reportedly registered as N10TN and linked to Pacific RIM Management LLC, departed Venezuela without authorization to enter Honduran airspace. It is suspected to have been engaged in a smuggling operation. The jet was found destroyed in shallow water, with no crew or passengers present at the site. Notably, the registration markings had been removed prior to discovery.

Despite initial speculation, the Honduran State Police confirmed that no narcotics were recovered from the wreckage. The aircraft, manufactured in 1979 and bearing manufacturer serial number 257085, was operating under unknown circumstances at the time of the crash. It is believed the crew attempted a low-altitude landing in the marshland, resulting in the aircraft’s destruction.

The flight phase was classified as “illegal,” and the aircraft was not listed under any active operator at the time of the incident. No fatalities were reported, and the number of individuals on board remains unconfirmed.

The crash site, located in a remote and sparsely monitored region of Central America, has been secured by military and law enforcement personnel. Investigators are working to determine whether the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure or was intentionally abandoned following a forced landing.
