Wamos Air retires its last Boeing 747

Spanish charter airline Wamos Air retires it's very last Boeing 747. EC-KXN is heading to Kyrgyzstan.

The 747 was last used heavily during the pandemic for charter flights from different countries to China to bring back their citizens home.

Wamos Air initially planned to phase out the 747 by 2023 however the pandemic pushed the date earlier.

Wamos Air’s remaining fleet includes only the Airbus A330 aircraft. The airline does operate scheduled flights but primarily it’s only charter flights. Wamos Air last operated to the Maldives in 2020.

As the Boeing 747’s are getting older, more airlines are phasing out the aircraft. This week China Airline retired the Boeing 747 after 46 years of service while Air India expressed their plans to retire the 747 which has been flying for 50 years.
