Villa Air FlyMe is celebrating 10 years of flight operations in the Maldives.
Villa Air FlyMe was launched on 14th March 2011 and began flight operations on 1st October 2011.
With just one ATR 42-500, flight’s began with Maamigili and Male’ being the primary route operated.
Today the airline owns 4 ATR series airplanes including the latest ATR 72-600 and operations to various parts of the Maldives with both scheduled and charter operations.
For a brief period, FlyMe operated a Cessna Caravan to provide seaplane services including charter flights, photo flights and etc.
Additionally, FlyMe announced in 2019 plans to launch seaplane services with the popular DHC6 Twin Otter after the completion of the new seaplane terminal in Velana International Airport.
FlyMe received Air Operators Certificate (AOC) for international operations in September 2020 and officially commenced international flights with massive plans to introduce Airbus jet’s in to the fleet to cater services to Sri Lanka, India, and more.
