A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A320 hit a flock of birds during a go-around at Alta Airport.
The A320-200 registration SE-ROZ was performing Flight SK-4546 from Oslo to Alta, Norway.
The aircraft was on final to land in Alta Airport’s runway 29 when the crew spotted a flock of birds and performed a go-around.
However, during the go around birds were ingested in the right-hand engine. The crew continued to climb and safely landed a few minutes later.
According to US FAA, airplanes hit birds more than 40 times each day. Birds have caused damages to aircraft costing airlines millions of dollars anually.
