Following the impact of the pandemic in the aviation industry national airline Maldivian reduced their pilot's salaries down to 40%.
Many raised concerns over the reduced salaries as the airline flight frequent has improved significantly.
Due to various disagreements with salaries and issues within the company, pilots and cabin crews called for a strike this Sunday unless their demands were agreed upon.
This news caught widespread media attention resulting in the president of the Maldives, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih organizing a meeting.
Finance minister Mr. Ibrahim Ameer along with President’s spokesperson Mabrook Azeez attended the meeting.
Maldivian has since offered to increase salaries up to 80% until December and a full increase of 100% by January 2022.
