Maldivian flights to Dhaka canceled as Bangladesh issues travel ban due to surge in COVID19 cases

National airline Maldivian’s flights to Dhaka between 14th and 20th April have been canceled due to the suspension of all international passenger flights to Bangladesh.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) issued the week-long travel ban after the surge in COVID19 cases. Over 500 flights are expected to be canceled.


Movement of chartered flights, cargo flights, and special flights carrying high commissioners of different countries and foreign nationals, will still be allowed.


Bangladesh reported its highest single-day increase in infections on Friday, with 7,462 cases. The country has reported over 684,756 cases and 9,739 deaths.
