Breaking: 12 Dead as a Myanmar Military Beechcraft Crashes


A Myanmar military Beechcraft 1900 crashed in the country’s central Mandalay region. At least 12 people have died in the crash.

The Beechcraft, registration 4610 was operating flight from Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT) to Pyin Oo Lwin, in Mandalay.


Sixteen people were on board, including military personnel, monks, and civilians who were traveling to attend a ceremony.


A well-known Buddhist monk was among the dead. Two people are said to have survived the crash.


The Beechcraft was on final approach to Pyin Oo Lwin’s Anisakhan Airport when the aircraft crashed 1.8 km from the runway for unknown reasons.
