Airbus carried out the first test flight onboard the Arbus A321Neo fitted with the new ‘E Rudder’ system yesterday in Toulouse, France.

Airbus will be replacing the present mechanical rudder control with electronic rudder control for future variants of the airbus series aircraft.
The E-rudder will become standard on the A319neo, A320neo, and the A321neo however, this modification will not be available for the conventional A320 family aircraft.
In addition to weight saving, the E-rudder will provide fuel saving, Ol reduction, Maintenance cost reduction.

With the E-rudder modification, the rudder trim failure would also no longer impact the Auto-Pilot availability.
