The Airbus A380-800 registration A6-EVK was operating flight EK-430 from Dubai United Arab Emirates) to Brisbane, Australia.
During the approach to Brisbane, the A380’s crew advised Air Traffic Controller that they were suspecting one of the tires blew during takeoff.
Upon landing a large hole was observed in the left-hand wing root fairing followed by the discovery of penetration at the underside of the fuselage.
The aircraft remains on the ground in Brisbane and it is suspected that the damage may have occurred during takeoff from Dubai.
