It’s been widely reported in various media outlets that Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in the Maldives on board a military aircraft earlier this morning.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was to resign today as the country is facing its worst economic crisis in history.
According to reports President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, his wife and a bodyguard were among four passengers to board an Antonov-32 military aircraft which operated to the Maldives.
The Antonov-32 departed from Velana International Airport earlier this morning at 04:40 after dropping off the president according to local media, Dhiyares.
According to Notam Velana Airports’ runway is only operational every day after 06:00 AM as it is closed for maintenance at midnight however under special authorization the runway can be opened for flights to land and depart.
It is a shame by facilitating to a person to run away while majority of the countries refused to do that by standing with Sri Lankan people.
