India’s First Indigenous Bomber UAV: The FWD-200B

On May 3, 2024, Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace Technologies, an Indian company based in Bengaluru, introduced the FWD-200B, a domestically developed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The FWD-200B is a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle designed and manufactured entirely in India, showcasing the country’s move towards self-reliance in strategic defense equipment.

The company emphasized that the UAV fulfills India’s requirement for a sophisticated unmanned combat aircraft, contributing significantly to efforts aimed at achieving self-reliance in a crucial segment of modern warfare.

The FWD-200B boasts an impressive 12-20 hour endurance and can reach speeds of up to 370 kmph. It has a range of 200 km and is well-suited for various operational scenarios.

The FWD-200B represents a significant leap forward for India’s defense capabilities. By developing an indigenous bomber UAV, India not only achieves cost-efficiency but also strengthens its strategic defense posture.
