Maldivian received two of the airline's brand new ATR 72-600s in the first week of January 2023.
The three ATRs were originally to join Maldivian’s fleet last year in October however due to manufacturing delays delivery date was changed to January 2023.
Maldivian have announced the ATR will enter commercial service tomorrow, 21st January 2023 at 15:40 local time with the first flight to Gan International Airport.
The third and final ATR for Maldivian is set to arrive in late January. Maldivian is acquiring ATRs in order to replace the ageing Dash8s.
The total acquisition cost of the three aircraft is reportedly USD 60 million (MVR 925 million) which is paid through a loan.
