A company owned by Eli Rozenberg, a 27-year-old New York-born yeshiva student who lives in Jerusalem, bought a controlling 42.85% stake of Israel’s national airline El Al with a $150 million bid at a share offering at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. This is the only bid received for the embattled airline.
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. is the national flag carrier of Israel and has been in operation since 1948. The airline operates with a fleet of 49 aircraft and flies to over 42 destinations.
The troubled airline is to reopen passenger routes to four international destinations in October following a turbulent six-month period during which the national carrier has only operated a handful of flights.
El Al airline made headlines across the globe recently after operating the first official flight from Israel to the United Arab Emirates.
